Precision Water
Measurement

Mallee HydroTech delivers independent and practical hydrographic field services and defensible water data.

Hydrometric field services

Defensible hydrometric fieldwork: Independent, reported in plain English, aligned with the National Industry Guidelines for Hydrometric Monitoring, and undertaken with reference to relevant Australian Standards including AS 3778, AS 4747 and AS 5667.

Discharge measurements, bathymetry and 3D flow mapping

Acoustic Doppler discharge measurements, validated, verified, and reported with confidence bounds you can trust.

Rating curve development and data assurance

Rating table development, reviews and health checks, including data validation that stands up to scrutiny when it matters.

Water monitoring station and hydrometric network audits

Comprehensive station audits that deliver practical condition reports and a priority optimised maintenance schedule.

Groundwater monitoring and sampling programs

Manual and instrumented bore monitoring and low-flow sampling programs. Condition assessments and remediation.

Water quality sampling and spot measurements

Routine and rapid incident-response water quality sampling: proper handling, sample preservation and calibration.

Non-urban metering and channel loss assessments

Independent open-channel metering, validation and channel-loss assessments. Supporting small private works through to large irrigation operations and channel networks.

Experienced hydrographic field support

Mallee HydroTech is led by Robbie Heane, a Certified Practicing Hydrographer based in Mildura, working across Sunraysia and the broader Murray-Darling Basin.

Robbie brings over 15 years of hands-on field experience across hydrography, including: discharge measurements, rating table development, hydrometric station audits, groundwater monitoring, water quality sampling and practical water data assurance.

That field experience is backed by industry contribution. Robbie has contributed through the Water Monitoring Standardisation Technical Committee (WaMSTeC), including work on Part 8 of the National Industry Guidelines for Hydrometric Monitoring, which covers the use of acoustic Doppler current profilers to measure discharge in open channels.

Robbie has presented at Australian Hydrographers Association conferences, receiving the Alex Miller Award for best presentation in 2023. His 2025 AHA presentation focused on the practical implementation of emerging discharge-measurement software: QRevInt.

Mallee HydroTech is built around accurate, precise and defensible water data. That means selecting the right technology and methodology for the site, verifying the outputs, checking the integrity of the data and reporting the result in a practical, actionable way so clients can make decisions with confidence.

When you engage Mallee HydroTech, you deal directly with the person responsible for the work. There is no middle layer between the client and the field data. Robbie's aim is to provide information at the quality and confidence needed to support sound decisions.

Water is complex.
We make it clear.
